This variety is a traditional local cultivar and not the result of modern breeding. It was discovered during the study of old vineyards, the age of which is approximately 80 years.

In winemaking, the variety is traditionally used in blends together with other historical varieties of the region, such as Mando, Sumoll, and Picapoll.
