The grape variety Fontanara is a white wine grape of the species Vitis vinifera. The variety was obtained as a result of breeding work by crossing the varieties Rieslaner and Müller-Thurgau.

The flowers of the plant are hermaphroditic; the variety is self-pollinating. Wine produced from this grape has a characteristic taste with intense floral and spicy aromas, while the varietal bouquet is moderately pronounced and has similarities to Riesling.
