The Spanish variety Chelva is the result of a cross between Macabeo x Almuñecar. The flower is hermaphroditic, the leaf is round and five-lobed. Clusters are large, conical-cylindrical, and of medium density. Berries are large, oval, and greenish-white with a thick waxy bloom. The variety is of medium-late maturity with high yield and low resistance to diseases and frost, used as a dual-purpose variety.

The Canary Island variety Forastera Gomera is grown primarily on the island of La Gomera and is genetically distinct from the others. It is used for the production of dry white wines with floral and mineral notes.

The Italian variety Forastera originates from a cross between Biancolella and an unknown variety. Shoots are vigorous, clusters are medium-sized, pyramidal or cylindrical, and loose. Berries are medium-sized and yellow-green. The variety is of medium-early maturity, productive, but susceptible to powdery mildew and gray mold, and is used for wine production.
