The Fogoneu variety is a local variety from Mallorca, with Excursach and Manses de capdell as its parent forms. It is a wine variety with dark berry skins, traditionally used for the production of wines intended for consumption at a young age.

Wines from this variety have a light character, pronounced fruit-floral aromas with notes of cherry and wild strawberry, as well as moderate herbaceous or mineral undertones. The variety is often grown in mixed plantings with Callet grapes and is used in blends to add elegance to the drinks.

The flowers of the variety are classified as hermaphroditic, although there are reports of dependence on pollination. The variety is considered part of the local winemaking heritage of the Balearic Islands and is officially authorized for use in the respective regions.
