The variety traditionally originates from the Valencia region and belongs to the category of minor varieties for which recovery efforts are underway. It is officially authorized for use in winemaking, in particular in the Murcia region.
Wines from this variety are characterized as fresh and light with good acidity. The variety is genetically distinct from the Airen grape variety, with which it is sometimes erroneously identified, and may also have local synonyms, such as Trepadell.
