The variety is a traditional Central European species that originated as a chance seedling. It is intended for white wine production and is one of the main components for creating famous Tokaj wines. The variety is capable of accumulating sugars and is suitable for the production of dry and dessert wines, including those using noble rot.

The plant is demanding regarding location, prefers warm, sunny, and sheltered sites, and requires deep and nutrient-rich soils. The yield is 9–10 t/ha with a sugar content of 19–20 °NM and an acidity of 10–11 g/l. Medium vine training is recommended with pruning to short fruit canes and spurs.

Morphologically, the variety is characterized by long, loose bunches with small berries. Wines made from these grapes possess notes of linden blossom, honey, spices, and elderberry, as well as pronounced acidity. Like other Vitis vinifera varieties, it is subject to the influence of climatic factors and fungal diseases.
