The variety has a late ripening period and is characterized by late bud break. Its medium-sized berries are dark blue, almost black in color, with a thick waxy coating. The plant is noted for high productivity and high resistance to heat and drought; however, it is susceptible to powdery mildew, downy mildew, and rot.

Wines from this variety are characterized by intense color, pronounced structure, high acidity, and tannin content. The aromatic profile contains notes of black fruits, spices, and herbs, and with aging, it develops tones of leather, tobacco, and wood.
