Molette is a natural cross between the varieties Gringet and Gouais Blanc. The vines have high vigor and an upright growth habit. It is a mid-to-late ripening variety, prefers clay-limestone and sandy soils, and is well-adapted to a cool climate.

Bunches are medium-sized, berries are small. The variety has medium fertility with short pruning, which increases with long pruning. The plant is susceptible to downy mildew and botrytis bunch rot.

The grapes are used in the production of white wines, often in blends, and sparkling wines. The finished wines are characterized by high acidity, minerality, and aromas with notes of white flowers, green apples, citrus, and pear.
