Mondeuse noire is the result of a natural crossing of the Mondeuse blanche and Tressot varieties, belonging to the "Sérines" family of varieties. The vines have medium vigor, and the leaves are medium-sized, rounded, and five-lobed. The cluster is medium, cylindrical-conical, and medium-dense; the berries are medium-sized, rounded, and black with a waxy bloom.

The variety belongs to the late-ripening group with good shoot maturation and high yield. Resistance to fungal diseases is estimated as medium. Wines produced from this grape possess deep color and significant aging potential.
