TIMOTHY SHEEHAN
10 August 2026
The variety is native to the Penedès region and was practically lost after the phylloxera epidemic, however, it was discovered and recovered in 1998. The plant is characterized by a late ripening period and high adaptability to extreme temperatures and arid conditions.
Morphologically, the variety is distinguished by small, loose clusters and spherical berries with thick, dark purple skin. A special feature is the presence of a completely female flower type. It is a technical variety used in winemaking to create aromatic wines with pronounced acidity and notes of red berries.
