The variety originates from the Savoie region and was known as early as the XIX century. For a long time, it was considered almost extinct; its preservation became possible thanks to the activities of organizations dedicated to the restoration of old autochthonous varieties.

The bunches of the variety range from medium to large in size, with medium-sized berries. Agronomic characteristics are almost identical to the Mondeuse Noire variety: it is a mid-season ripening variety, sensitive to drought, chlorosis, mite infestation, and susceptible to fungal diseases.

The grape belongs to wine varieties. Wines produced from it possess good acidity and medium sugar accumulation potential; notes of quince and stone fruits are noted in their aroma.
