The variety is a hybrid of Vitis berlandieri and Vitis vinifera and is used as rootstock material for grafting cultivated grape varieties. Its purpose is to adapt plants to soil conditions and increase resistance to pests, in particular to phylloxera.

The plant has a female flower type. Due to the strictly technical purpose of this material, descriptions of ripening indicators or fruit taste qualities are not characteristic for it, as the berries are not consumed.
