Variety description

The variety is a hybrid of Vitis riparia and Vitis rupestris species. It is used as a rootstock for grafting table and wine grape varieties, providing protection against root phylloxera. The vegetation period is 170–180 days; the variety is capable of accelerating the ripening of berries in grafted crops.
The bushes have medium vigor and a tendency for strong lateral shoot formation, which requires green operations. The rootstock is preferably grown on fertile, well-moistened soils; it does not tolerate drought well and is sensitive to an excess of active lime, showing signs of chlorosis when its content exceeds 9%.
The variety is distinguished by high resistance to fungal diseases such as downy mildew and powdery mildew, but is sensitive to anthracnose. The root system has very high frost resistance. Cuttings root well, are easily grafted, and demonstrate good affinity with most grape varieties.
