Abrusco N. is a rare variety, historically known also as Abrostino or Color. The plant is characterized by vigorous growth, leaves of medium size, pentagonal shape, and five-lobed. The berries are small, dark blue-black in color with light-colored pulp.

The variety ripens in the mid-season, occupying a harvest period between Ciliegiolo and Sangiovese varieties. It has a predisposition to powdery mildew infection. In winemaking, it is valued as a coloring variety that gives wines intense color, structure, and spicy aromas, although varietal wines are produced extremely rarely.

There is a possibility of synonymy or confusion of this variety with Colorino, Abrostine, and some types of Lambrusco, which requires genetic verification of plantings.
