The Alepou variety, the name of which translates from Greek as "fox," is a clone of the ancient Greek variety Roditis. The vines are characterized by great vigor. The variety is late-maturing and is characterized by high drought tolerance, while showing sensitivity to fungal diseases.

The berries of the variety have pink skin, yet they are used for the production of white wines. The Alepou clone differs from the base variety in having smaller berry size. The resulting wines possess notes of melon and citrus, high acidity, good structure, and aging potential.
