The variety belongs to the species Vitis vinifera and is autochthonous to Spain. Genetically, it is a descendant of the Hebén variety and serves as one of the parents of the Tempranillo variety. The leaf is rounded, five-lobed, deeply dissected, with no pubescence on the underside. The flower is hermaphroditic. The bunch is medium-sized, conical, and of medium density. The berry is rounded, golden-white, with a waxy bloom, the skin is of medium thickness, and the flesh is fleshy and juicy.
The plant is characterized by upright vine growth and low yield. The variety is drought-tolerant, resistant to powdery mildew, but sensitive to downy mildew, grey mold, and late spring frosts. Wines are characterized by a golden-yellow color, dense structure, high alcohol content with medium acidity, and aromas of white flowers, fruits, almonds, and mineral notes.
