The Italian variety Aran, developed by the company Vivai Viticoli Trentini, belongs to the PIWI category. It is the result of breeding involving the Riesling variety, possesses increased resistance to fungal diseases, and is intended for use in winemaking.
The name Aran is also used as a brand for wines from Armenia and Artsakh. In this case, it is not a grape variety but denotes products made from the local indigenous Khndoghni variety, also known as Sireni. This variety is characterized by intense color, deep taste, and high tannin content.
The right is granted for a limited term: propagation of the variety requires a license from the rights holder.
