The variety is a natural white-berried mutation of the Aramon noir variety. The letter 'B' in the name indicates the color of the berry skin. Historically, the variety is grown in France, predominantly in the Languedoc-Roussillon region, although its planting areas are currently declining.

The wine grape variety is characterized by very large clusters and berries with greenish-yellow, sometimes grayish skin. Wines from this variety are described as neutral, lacking refinement. There is clonal selection for the variety, in particular certified clone No. 1279.
