The variety is the result of a natural cross between Ouliven and Gouais Blanc varieties. It is a mid-late grape with early budding, which makes it sensitive to spring frosts. The bushes are characterized by medium or weak vigor and drooping shoots, requiring proper training and short pruning.
The clusters are very large, conical, often winged, with large berries. The variety has high resistance to oidium, but is susceptible to downy mildew, Phomopsis, and mites. Wines made from this variety are noted for their light color, low acidity, and low alcohol content, which is why they were traditionally used in blends.
The variety should not be confused with the Israeli variety Argaman or other plants with similar names.
