Wine grape variety originating from the island of Chios. It is assumed that this is the grape from which the famous Ariusian wine was produced in antiquity.
The variety has dark berry skins. The wines are characterized by a full-bodied taste, the presence of tannins, and a deep purple color. The aromatic profile contains notes of red fruits, wild herbs, vanilla, and spices. The variety is often used in blends and can also be subjected to sun-drying technology.
The variety's vineyards are located at an altitude of 250 to 350 meters above sea level. The harvest on the island usually takes place between September 20 and 30.
