Genetically, the base variety Fetească regală is the result of crossing the Fetească albă and Frâncușă varieties. Clone 72 St has undergone selection to maintain varietal characteristics and improve product quality indicators.

The clusters of the variety are medium-sized, weighing 190–250 g, and have a cylindrical or cylindrical-conical shape. The berries are medium, spherical, yellow-green in color with thick skin and bloom. Fruit ripening begins in August.

The use of this clone contributes to the production of wines with good acidity, a characteristic delicate aroma, and an increased content of polyphenols. The variety demonstrates high frost resistance, moderate resistance to downy mildew and powdery mildew, and low resistance to grey mold and drought.
