The variety is an old Romanian autochthon originating from the Odobești region. The designation "50 Od" refers to the clone maintained by the Research and Development Institute for Viticulture and Winemaking in Odobești.

The plant is characterized by vigorous shoot growth, reaching 3–4 meters. The variety is sensitive to drought and highly susceptible to downy mildew, powdery mildew, and grey mold, while frost resistance is up to -18 °C.

The clusters are cylindrical-conical, compact, weighing 350–400 g. The berries are medium-sized, yellow in color, sometimes with a golden hue. The yield is 16–20 tons per hectare, sugar content of the berries reaches 180–220 g/l with an acidity of 4.5–6.0 g/l.

The variety is a technical one and is used for the production of white dry and semi-sweet wines, as well as sparkling wines. Due to its vigor, it requires mandatory trellising and vine training.
