Hajnos kék is a traditional Hungarian variety that was widespread before the phylloxera epidemic. In the modern period, its restoration and cultivation are carried out by enthusiasts using materials from research institutes.

The variety is mid-season and is intended for the production of complex fruit wines. Due to the high density of the bunches, the plant is susceptible to rotting in rainy weather, which requires the use of specific agrotechnical practices, such as bunch thinning.
