The variety belongs to the eco-geographical group of Eastern wine varieties. Leaves are medium-sized or large, round, five-lobed, medium or deeply dissected; young leaves have a bronze tint. The flower is hermaphroditic.

The cluster is medium-sized, conical, winged, with a very dense structure and a thick peduncle having a characteristic rectangular bend. The berry is dark blue, round or slightly oval, covered with an abundant waxy bloom. The pulp is melting, the taste is simple, slightly tart.

The variety is known under the synonyms Gara Shira, Sveni, Shireni, Sireni. Wines made from it are characterized by a rich structure due to a high content of tannins.
