The Slovak variety "Onyx" is a hybrid of the varieties Dunavski misket and Beauty Seedless. At the same time, the variety "Florida Onyx", which belongs to the species Vitis rotundifolia (muscadine grape), was bred for the conditions of the Southeastern United States. It is a table plant with a female flower type, characterized by high productivity and resistance to Pierce's disease.

Seedlings under the name "Onyx" (seedless) are also found on the market, positioned as early or early-mid season forms with large clusters. Their affiliation with specific breeding achievements is often not confirmed by data from official registers, which indicates the possible use of the name as a commercial designation for different hybrids.
