The German wine grape variety was obtained by crossing Optima and Villard blanc varieties. It belongs to mid-late varieties with a growing season of 135–140 days. It has medium to above-average vigor, forms cylindrical-conical bunches weighing 170–200 g with white-green berries. The variety belongs to the PIWI group, is resistant to downy mildew, powdery mildew, and gray mold, and frost resistance is –22...–23 °C.
Table forms, unrelated to the German variety, include hybrids of early ripening with dark, large-sized berries and high bunch weight of up to 2000 g. The Turkmen variety Orion is a multipurpose variety of early-mid ripening with black, round, medium-sized berries; it is characterized by susceptibility to frost and phylloxera.
