The variety is an ancient indigenous cultivar from the Valdarno region in Italy, which was virtually forgotten and re-entered into the variety register for wine production in 2007. The name includes the B. designation, indicating the white color of the berries.
The plant has a medium or early ripening period. Morphological features include the presence of firm and thick berry skins. The variety is sensitive to late spring frosts and susceptible to Botrytis cinerea; cordon and Guyot training systems are used for its cultivation.
It is classified as a wine grape variety. Wines made from it possess a pronounced structure, high acidity, mineral, fruity, and spicy notes, as well as aging potential.
