The bush is vigorous with large, deeply dissected three- or five-lobed leaves and hermaphrodite flowers. The clusters are large, dense, conical or cylindrical in shape, and often have a wing. The berries are medium-sized, round, greenish-yellow in color, covered with a thick waxy skin, and have a neutral taste.

The variety possesses high and stable productivity and belongs to the very late ripening category. It is characterized as generally resistant to diseases. Wines from Ortrugo have a pale straw color, a delicate aroma with floral and fruity notes, and a moderate structure.
