The variety is an ancient autochthon of the northern Adriatic, genetically identical to the Teran grape. Bunches are medium-sized, pyramidal, loose, with a wing. Berries are blue-black, round, medium or small in size, with juicy pulp.
The plant has medium vigor and average yield, historically adapted to the red soils of the region. Bud burst occurs at the end of April, flowering in the first ten days of June, and ripening in the first ten days of October.
The grapes are used exclusively for winemaking. The resulting wines are distinguished by their intense color, high acidity, powerful tannin structure, and notes of blueberry, black cherry, plum, and forest berries, with an aging potential of 4 to 10 years.
