Varieties of this family belong to the mid-late or late maturity group. The berries have a dark blue or purple color, and the clusters are predominantly medium or large in size with a cylindrical shape. The plant is a woody vine with high vigor, requiring special training on trellises.
The grape is adapted to the climatic conditions of the foothills with fluctuations between day and night temperatures and demonstrates good resistance to major diseases of the crop. Within the family, various clones are distinguished, the most well-known of which is Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso.
