Refosco d' Istria is a variety of the Refosco family and is widespread in the regions of Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Slovenia, and Croatia. The variety was distinguished as a separate sub-variety in 1891 and is often identified with the Terrano variety.

It is a late-ripening wine variety with medium-sized dark blue berries. A distinctive morphological feature is the green rachis. Wines from this variety possess high acidity, a pronounced tannin structure, and a powerful character, although they are less suited to long aging than other Refosco forms.

The variety is sensitive to weather conditions, and its cultivation requires careful control due to the late ripening period and the need for precise timing of the harvest.
