The name Rizling Silvani Zöld was historically used in Hungary and Central European countries due to the erroneous belief that the variety originated from Riesling and Silvaner. Genetic studies confirmed that the parent forms of Müller-Thurgau are Riesling and Madeleine Angevine.

The variety is classified as a wine grape and is early-ripening, which allows it to be grown in cool regions. Wines made from it have a light body, aromas of pear and flowers, and are intended for early consumption. The variety is high-yielding, characterized by moderate resistance to diseases, and requires vine maintenance.
