Rkatsiteli is an ancient autochthonous variety obtained as a result of the domestication of wild Georgian vines. The bushes have medium vigor and upright shoots. The leaves are rounded, 3- or 5-lobed, medium or slightly dissected, turning yellow in autumn.

The clusters are of medium size, weighing 155–160 g, with a cylindrical or cylindrical-conical shape and medium density. The berries are of medium size, rounded or oval, golden-yellow in color, often with a brownish tan on the sun-exposed side. The pulp is juicy, the taste is pleasant.

The variety belongs to the late-ripening ones: the growing season lasts 155–160 days. It possesses relatively high frost resistance and resistance to phylloxera, while the susceptibility to fungal diseases is medium. The wines are characterized by high acidity, aging potential, and tannin content when specific fermentation technologies are used.
