The variety is of Greek origin and is known by a number of synonyms, including Kokkinorobola, Kokkinorombola, and Mavrorobola. It is a natural mutation of the Robola variety, which is traditionally cultivated on the Ionian Islands, particularly on Kefalonia.
Morphological and agrotechnical characteristics of the red-berried form are not described in detail. It is assumed that vegetative traits are similar to the base variety, which is distinguished by deeply lobed five-lobed leaves with pubescence on the underside, hermaphroditic flowers, and small clusters.
Specialized data on ripening dates, productivity, and disease resistance specifically for the Kokkini form are absent from open sources. In European catalogs, the variety is registered as a separate wine variety.
