The variety is indigenous to Greece and has been cultivated since ancient times. Vines possess high vigor and perfect flowers. Leaves are medium to large in size, deeply lobed, with bristly pubescence on the underside. The variety prefers light calcareous soils.
Clusters are cylindrical-conical in shape and of medium density. Berries are medium to large in size, oval, with skin ranging from whitish-pink to light red; color intensity decreases with high yields. Wines from this variety are distinguished by refreshing acidity and fruity aromas.
Rodhitis is susceptible to downy mildew, powdery mildew, black spot, and viruses. To obtain quality wine, yield restriction and cultivation at high-altitude sites are recommended.
