The Roesler variety is a hybrid of Zweigelt and Klosterneuburg 1189-9-77. It is a mid-early variety with high frost resistance down to -25°C and resistance to downy mildew and powdery mildew. The plant has large 5–7-lobed leaves and dark blue fleshy berries. Wines from it are characterized by deep color, extract, and high tannin content.
The Ráthay variety is derived from a cross between Blauburger and Klosterneuburg 1189-9-77. The variety matures in mid-season, is frost-resistant down to -25°C, and is resistant to major fungal diseases, including Botrytis. The leaves are medium-sized, 5-lobed, and the bunches are cylindrical with medium-sized black or dark blue berries. Wines are characterized by being full-bodied with a dense color.
