The variety is indigenous to Greece and is considered a natural hybrid of the Ladikino and Lagorthi varieties. It is a late-ripening, high-yielding grape variety adapted to hot climates and drought, possessing high disease resistance due to the loose structure of the cluster.

A distinctive biological feature of the variety is the instability of pigmentation: berries of white, pink, and red color may be present on the same cluster simultaneously. The berries accumulate high levels of sugar, which ensures significant strength in wines with moderate acidity. Due to the tendency of the wines toward rapid oxidation, production requires specific technological techniques.
