The variety belongs to the mid-late or late maturity group. It is characterized by increased resistance to grapevine diseases. A distinctive morphological feature is the ability of the berries to acquire three different shades before reaching the ripening stage. The berry pulp is non-pigmented.

The yield of the variety is low; sensitivity to poor pollination is observed, leading to the loss of inflorescences. The variety is endemic to the Axarquía region in Spain. It is traditionally used for making rosé wines and blends, and is less frequently consumed as a table grape.
