The variety is the result of a cross between Zarya Severa and Saint Laurent. The vines are vigorous, prone to dense foliage and horizontal growth. The bunches are medium-sized, cylindrical-conical in shape; the berries are dark blue, almost black in color with firm skin and juicy pulp.
The sugar content of the berries is 19–21%, acidity is 9–10 g/l. The grapes are used for the production of full-bodied red wines with aromas of cherry, blackberry, and black currant, as well as rosé wines and blends.
The plant possesses increased resistance to downy mildew, powdery mildew, and gray mold, and tolerates winter temperatures down to -24...-25°C. Due to early bud break, the variety is at risk of damage from spring frosts and may also show a predisposition to chlorosis and shatter of the ovaries.
