Rousseli, also known as Rousseli Rs or Roussanne du Var, is a local grape variety from southeastern France, genetically related to the Gouais Blanc variety. It forms large, juicy berries of a pale pink shade.
This variety belongs to the late-ripening group and is characterized by high drought tolerance. Wines from this variety are historically distinguished by a low level of acidity and high alcohol content; however, in modern blends, it is valued for introducing fruit notes.
Currently, the variety has limited distribution and is the subject of breeding and experimental work aimed at its adaptation to changing climatic conditions and its inclusion in the specifications of Provence appellations.
