The variety originates from the Balkans and is genetically identical to the Muškat Ruža Porečki variety, being the result of a natural cross between Muscat Blanc and an unknown parent. The vine has pentagonal leaves with 3–5 lobes, with medium or long-sized clusters that are conical and range from loose to medium density.
The variety is demanding regarding growing conditions, preferring warm sites and light soils, while being characterized by low and irregular yields. Due to the functionally female flower type, it requires pollinators and is highly susceptible to Botrytis cinerea and other diseases.
Wines made from this variety possess intense aromas of rose petals, cinnamon, honey, wild strawberries, and nutmeg. The beverages are distinguished by a rich color and full body; the variety is also suitable for the production of late-harvest sweet wines.
