The variety is a natural hybrid of Corvina Veronese and an unknown variety. The plant is vigorous with a semi-erect growth habit and hermaphroditic flowers. The leaves are round, deeply lobed, five-, seven- or nine-lobed, without pubescence on the underside.
The clusters are medium-sized, conical, and compact. The berries are small, round, dark blue in color with a thick waxy bloom, and possess thick skin and juicy pulp.
The variety has good resistance to downy mildew and Botrytis, but is susceptible to esca, moderately frost-resistant and sensitive to drought. The grapes are used for the production of blended wines, imparting a ruby color and herbal notes.
