Variety description

The variety received the name "red tip" due to the bronze hue of young shoots in spring. The leaves of the variety are of medium size, rounded shape, and have deep cuts into 5–7 lobes. The clusters are characterized by a conical shape and very high density, which makes the variety sensitive to infection by Botrytis cinerea, downy mildew, and powdery mildew, as well as to spring frosts.

The berries have a greenish-yellow color and juicy pulp. The grapes are used for the production of full-bodied wine with pleasant acidity and aging potential, in which notes of pear, pineapple, mango, and melon predominate in the aroma. The variety is often grown in the Austrian Thermenregion, where it is used both on its own and in a blend with the Zierfandler variety.
