The variety is an interspecific hybrid obtained by crossing Zweigelt and Klosterneuburg 1189-9-77. The vines are characterized by vigorous growth and the formation of a small number of lateral shoots. Leaves are large or medium-sized, five-lobed, slightly dissected, with pronounced blistering.
Clusters are large, cylindrical-conical in shape, medium density, often with a wing. Berries are small, round, blue-black in color, covered with a thick bloom. The variety is classified as resistant to fungal diseases, showing high resistance to downy mildew, powdery mildew, grey mold, and withstands frost down to -25...-27 °C.
The grapes have a high potential for accumulation of coloring substances in the skin, which gives the wines a deep color. Flavor and aromatic properties are characterized by a high content of extractives and tannins, as well as notes of wild berries and cherry. The variety is suitable for creating varietal wines and blends.
