Variety description

10 August 2026

The variety is autochthonous to Greece, genetically related to the Gustolidi and Theiako Mavro varieties. The leaf is round, five-lobed, deeply dissected, with dense pubescence on the underside. The cluster is small, cylindrical, of medium density. The berry is small, round, white, and covered with a thick waxy bloom.

The variety is productive, early ripening. It shows the best results on poor limestone stony soils of mountain slopes with good drainage. It is usually trained in a bush vine (gobelet) form. It has low resistance to diseases: it is susceptible to powdery mildew, gray mold, viral diseases, and is sensitive to drought.

Wines from Robola possess high acidity, extract, and notes of citrus, pear, and green apples. Due to its tendency towards rapid oxidation, the grapes require a professional approach during vinification.
