Variety description

The variety is a representative of the Vitis vinifera species and is used primarily for the production of red wines. In Slovenia, it is traditionally part of the Cviček wine blend, although some estates produce single-varietal wines from it.

The clusters of the variety are medium-sized, dense, and cylindrical-conical in shape. The berries are dark blue with medium-thick skin. The leaves are medium-sized, round or three-lobed, dark green in color, and turn a red hue in autumn.

The variety is characterized by good resistance to frost and flower drop during blooming. Wine made from it has a dark red color, a fresh fruity aroma, and pronounced acidity, requiring aging to achieve velvetiness and fullness of taste.
