Sylvaner is a natural hybrid of Traminer and Österreichisch Weiß varieties. This is a wine grape variety characterized by stable yields and good growth vigor, which prefers light, sandy, and calcareous soils.

Bunches of the variety are small or medium, compact, and cylindrical in shape. Berries are medium-sized, greenish-yellow in color, often with brown spots when ripe. Leaves are rounded, 3- or 5-lobed with a wavy surface.

The variety is sensitive to fungal diseases, including downy mildew, powdery mildew, and gray mold, and is also vulnerable to the effects of spring and winter frosts and chlorosis. The wood matures unevenly.
