The variety is indigenous to the Ravni Kotari region in Croatia. Historically widespread, it was practically displaced from the commercial assortment due to low productivity; however, in recent years, work has been underway to study and conserve it in bank collections.
The plant has medium vigor. The leaves are five-lobed, deeply dissected, with pubescence on the underside. The clusters are characterized by medium size and a conical-cylindrical shape with moderate berry density.
The variety is intended for the production of dry red wines with a distinct terroir character. Data on disease resistance is limited; the variety is classified as difficult to cultivate.
