A mid-ripening variety; in hot climates, the timing may shift to mid-late. The vines are medium-vigor with hermaphrodite flowers. The leaves are medium-sized, rounded, three- or five-lobed, medium-dissected, with slight cobwebby pubescence on the underside.

The clusters are medium-sized, cylindrical-conical, and of medium density. The berries are medium-sized, black, slightly oval, with thick skin. Resistance to fungal diseases is satisfactory, resistance to low temperatures is weak (down to –18...–19°C), and yield is low.

A wine variety for the production of red wines characterized by a rich dark color, potential for long aging, and characteristic notes of dark berries, black pepper, spices, leather, and chocolate.
