Variety description

The variety is ancient and belongs to the species Vitis vinifera. The berries are characterized by a pink, grayish-pink, or brownish skin hue. The variety has early bud break and ripens early.

In winemaking, the variety is valued for its ability to accumulate high levels of sugar. It is used to produce both light, dry wines and rich, oily dessert wines with aromas of peach, pear, apricot, flowers, honey, and nuts. On mineral soils, the grapes yield structured wines with pronounced minerality.

The variety does not possess increased resistance to fungal diseases such as downy mildew and powdery mildew, therefore it requires regular care. It adapts well to various types of terroirs.
